STEPS TO TAKE WHEN LEAVING OR RETIRING FROM A PRACTICE
Registrants when they are leaving practice must take reasonable steps to notify their patients. They also must advise the College when they close or leave a practice, and include in that notice information about the arrangements for patient or College access to records, among other needs.
Plans should also be in place in advance for others to provide appropriate notices and access to medical records for patients in the event that the registrant for any reason is unable to carry out the necessary tasks.
See more detail in the College’s Leaving Practice Guidelines.
